Mesilos-yeah I am sure you all hear all day long jappy jappy jappy!...THIS IS SO INCORRECT...for starters...in every seminary regardless you will find girls that are jappy...now lets define jappy...someone who likes to get dressed up and look good..now think about it..is that SO bad?..trust me you will see once you get to Israel that after amonth you wont even wear a short skirt you will be lazy and so not interested in getting dressed...so again in everysemianry you will find girls w/ name brands and al lthat stuff..they need someone to pick on and mesilos is a new seminary..so they chose them...the school is suppose to be a great school...excellent staff and great trips and normal amount of work..very managable the dorms are AMAZING...and the school i personally think is a great choice...for most ppl who want to apply to like bnos chava and meor..even though its all diff types..but id say thoes 3 are the most common that ppl apply to of "That type"...mesilos is great..the girls who went loved every moment of it!
why "masores 13th yr" ..so UN true..that is the oldest thing you heard from the 1st yr..the girls do love it and it really has a warm atmoshpere...mesilos isint a seminary that will brainwash you into what they think is right and try molding you..they give you everything possible and they want you to take out of it what you need..no girl went into the school coming out the same way
i spoke to my teacher abt applying to mesilos and she said that the jappyness is just skin deep and there is nothing to worry abt... but she did say that mesilos did take away alot of japs from bnos chava....( take it any way u want... im just commenting) but it definitely has a pro over bnos chava b/c they're trying to make mesilos a homey'er and warmer bnos chava where every shbs is an 'in shbs' adn closeness w/ tchrs and all that..... ( so thats a big plus) and she said that they're really working themselves up to become more academic... u def. wont be bored there... there is work. basiccally they're building up to becoming a very nice... well rounded sem. ( im my opinion.)
Ok they are def. working there way and and are doing a great job!..comparing it to bnos chava on a warmer leval mesilos wins BY FAR..for startes you are comparing a seminary of about 60+girls(mesilos) to a seminary of 120+(bnos chava), But that being a side point..mesilos is DEFINALTY an extreamly warm school, you really won't find a school out there that is more warm..trying to cater to EVERY girls needs...making the girls have a year in the right way...and yes they do have a" in shabbosim" once every 5 weeks or so..and you are able to sleep in the dorm if you please every shabbos as long as you have a few other girls too!
my friend is there and she loved it from the first minute. she said (and i heard from a lot of places) that they were careful about who they took b/c they heardabout this jappy reputation. my friend said the girls are so nice and it's so not jappy or frivilant but nice sincere girls.
they REALLY care about the girls and do everyhting they can to make you happy. i think if we get a whole bunch of good girls to realize the jappyness is gone and mesilos is a great seminary, and apply, it will be great
hi everyone im a mesilos alumnus- how cool does that sound? anyway- i loved it. to be honest it was overwelming in the beginning- as it is in every seminary- allthough the work isnt the main idea- you will have to work. and the best thing about the seminary is the warmness. it was really something special how each teacher cared about each and every girl. rabbi z is really an excellent mechanech and is ready to change aspects of the school if it is the best for his students. another excellent thing about the seminary is that the school doesnt mold you into becoming someone who you are not and will never become once you come home, they teach you how to grow on your own and on your own level. there was not one girl who didnt grow yet the whole school didnt come out cutting their hair and marrying only ten year learners. another aspect is the warmness and closeness of the seminary- we really felt like a family- though everyone had their own groups of friends, wen we got together, we were together. in touro everyone sees us alll being so friendly with eachother and are actually jealous! ok so we were a little jappy- but i have two things to say on that. one- it really does depend on your year and two- if you saw a group of girls walking down the street with make up and blown hair and an aligator on their shirts you wouldnt say anything if they were from meor or bc or mchlala. but if they were from mesilos, obviously you would laugh and make fun of the japiness! in short mesilos has the jappy name but all seminary girls get dressed up and look pretty. one example is that i went to the kosel for vasikin and the mesilos girls were all in slinky skirts and sweatshirts and bed hair and a dif sem was also there and they all had theier hair done with makeup and short skirts. explain that. o ya and mesilos has awesome apartments- stunning! and awesome lunches! ahhhhhhhhhh i loved it im so jealous! enjoy and good luck
the rabbi came today and basically from what i understood its not really at all that academic. im not considering applying there anymore...but that doesnt mean its not for anyone else, just not for me. ---g'luck e/o... i know i need it!

i heard from a lot of people that it's like mesores thirteenth grade and that it's really hard
It is academic but at the same time there is a lot of warmth and the girls are really connecting to the teachers.
