Meor...anygirl who goes their loves it from the start!..its located in bayit vagan. The girls have a great time..they school work is not a lot..and they are not so into it anyway...it is not hard..and they do share some teachers w/ mesilos..again usually the girls who apply to meor also apply to mesilos (and bnos chava)all around good school..you may of heard its like a "cloud 9" school but..really its to each their own..rabbi greenwald(the princepal) wants you to come out of his school saying he changed you...its a good school i personally think..normal nice frum girls
Just warning everyone who is applying- it is supposed to be really hard to get in.
That is correct...it is very hard to get in..because a vast amount of girls usually apply and he ends up taking only 2-3 from each school and before you know its that makes up 70 girls...another thing is you wont even know if you got in until the day you get your acceptance/pending letter...so dont' get your hopes up to anything -regardless of pull..he doesnt necissarly go for that at all!..
The girls that go are usually a large mix. There are never too many from any one school, and I'd say that not even half of the school is from NY,out of the 90 girls attending this year, about 40 are from NY but There are MANY out of towners- meaning, Chicogo-ians, Baltimore people, England-ers, South American, Swiss, Californians, and many more
Meor girls are usually an active, achdusdik bunch with plenty of ruach.
It is just not as "textually-intense" as some of the other BY schools, like Bnos Chava, etc
meohr is very warm. there are no two ways about it. and i think i'd even go as far as saying that i don't know if you could even get that kind of warmth anywhere else.
Meohr doesn't decide whether they're taking you or not according to your marks. They care about you as a person. The classes are more hashkafah based rather than text based, which is very stimulating for the mind.
but thats not for e/o... some pple like to get inspiration from textual learning.
Yes what all you said is def. correct. But remember, seminary isint only about doing work and textual etc..its a year about you..it may seem selfish but anyway you slice it,but that will be the case.... at the end of the day thoes girls who go to meohr..i dont know what to say but if FITS THEM PERFECTLY...
its a school with a lot of talent, but that could be every school-when a girl has a chance to use all her strengths, alot of talent people didn't see before comes out. The school is very focused on individual real growth and self-development-a mussar kind of approach(mussar not meaning lecturing on all your faults, but on focus on and working on who you really are).

many of the girls were extremely bright both schoolwise and knowledgeable as well as worldly. i know that it is not a requirement for the students to be straight A girls, but the truth is many of them are
meohr has the best balance of learning, the best teachers and the best girls Most of the classes are wonderful. You can really gain a lot from the teachers, from the kind of people they are
Rabbi Greenwald said he is looking for girls that can be trusted, who are open to real growth, and who are intelligent. He does not think too highly of "JAP"s, and girls who are snobby or "clique"ey don't fit in to the way he sees the world.
meohr is definately one of a kind. i can say that the three out of the five top teachers that were the favorates in mesilos also tought in meor- so i can say that their teachers are amzing and moving.the school in its self is definatly warm. everyone is friends with everyone- their family with especially their tatty- rabbi greenwald. theres no telling who will get accepted to meohr- there is such a random variety accepted-you can never tell. but wen it comes down to it they are all "meohry." that is they are all the same type at the end of the story. wat that type is i cant explain but its not a bad thing and its not a good thing. the one rule that meor has is curfew- other than that you are on ur own to make the right decisions- to help you mature in ur own unique way. the school is not into academics at all but they are very very very spiritual and into self growth. the rooming is also very random. you can have from 1 to 5 roomates. and about the jappiness- you may be surprised that even in meor there were animals on shirts! you can never escape- but it doesnt have the jappy atmosphere- you are at liberty of being who you really are and not being fake. meohr girls are true to themselves. good luck!

no, you don't necessarily need top marks to get in. top marks are not definitive of the intelligence of a person.
what i can say is that some of the girls who went are absolute geniuses. not everyone, of course, but a nice amount.
and contrary to popular belief, NOONE calls the rabbi "tatty".
i think it was a joke the first year, but by the second year, it was over. except for those who never went to meohr.
just a point regarding hashkafah based and textual based sems - as a woman, hashkafah is far more important than text. of course, if all you're getting is fluff, that's not real hashkafah. but though i know you can't fathom it now, cuz (almost) everything in high school is about textual learning, once you're out of high school, it's your well balanced hashkafah that truly matters.
most people don't dicuss many seforim with their hhusbands. but what you want your children to be and what you want your home to look like and who you're gonna marry are all based on your personal hashkafos.
yes, if you're coming from an intense textual high school, hashkafic learning does take time to get used to. and not everyone loves meohr at the start, or even at the end. and not everyone speaks to rabbi greenwald. there are many teachers to learn from and become close to.
when you're choosing any sem, i think the most important thing after the type of girl is the warmth of the teachers. seminary is yur one true time to create for yourself a mentor, a shidduch counselor, a life advisor.
choose wisely.

the main thing is to stay chilled when applying anywhere. apply to those few places, and then RELAX. whatever hashem has in store for you will happen. don't go crazy. really. it's not worth it.
