Michlala- great school..gorgoues campus..and also a lot of work..its attracting more by type of girls which is great..it is also a very big school but with a large vareity of type of girls..they are not "on top" of you persay..no specific rules..but just dont do anything wrong on campus..i know off school its pretty much do as you please..but remmeber you are in Eretz Yisrael so have the right intentions and dont do anything stupid. It is called michlala for a reason= college..so they is work and if you dont give it on time they wont run after you..but itll just be sitting on your responsibilty....i think it is a great school for a dillegent student with the grades to get in
is it as not bais yaakovy as they say?... i mean, sounds like it w/ all that freedom off campus.
well at the end of the day it is not a "bais yaakov school" like no bais yaakov attachted to their names but that are many girls who went to a by type of school...i mean the girls who go there arents just roaming the streets..

so basically its just not for e/o.
its been extrmes for girls who applies here..many i know "normal frum girls" applied to bjj and then to michlala...the academic is DEF. up there and great..but if a girl feels like they will be influenced by others doing who are not on the same leval as them or same backround..then i really guess not..
yeh, getting influenced by others is a major deal if ur gonna b spending the year w/ them.'
my teacher said that pple should pick a sem that is a lil bit on a higher level than themselves but not too high cuz then it can be detrimetal and possibly have the reverse effect.
your teacher has a very vaild point it is true...chose a place were it is down to your leval somewhat so you can relate to it and be able to take what you learn and apply it to a higher leval
cuz seminary is all abt growing, right? on the misc. post culd u talk abt y pple should want to got to sem. ( in israel and in general.) thanx
yea basically..one of the main points
let me get this strait for you- michlala is very very frum- but is not bais yaakov. its attracting a frum crowd- not a byy crowd. theres a dif. whoever goes there are strong in their ways. basically its a college. you choose your classes and the times and your roommates- and sit back and study the whole year. mchlala is also a school thast teaches you to grow in your own way without influiencing you into extremes. they are very into haslacha- meaning that if you are tought a halacha that you previously did not know- instead of saying that your father says you dont have to do it, you undertake it. the girls in mchlala are mixed- you wont find many by girls- and you will find those that hang pics of their boyfriends on their walls. you have to be honest with yourself. if you are the type that is not strong in her ways and is easiuly influienced- this is not the school for you. it is very intilectual- meaninmg- you have to be mart- but its not necesarily hard if you choose easy classes.
i personally think that michlala is an awesome school so that's where i'm applying and hoping to go. i love the fact that not every girl is the same and that the girls aren't expected to turn out the same. it allows you to grow as much as you want without them forcing it on you. i think that people think that b/c it's not a "bais yaakov" school, it's more modern and that's really not fair. i really hope that more of you apply!
as someone else has written, michlala is a COLLEGE and is very into halachah. into EXACT halachah, actually.
the girls who go there for the most part enjoy it immensely, and for a non-bais yaakov sem, it's pretty frum. though NOT bais yaakov. though some girls may come from bais yaakov schools, they are the non-bais yaakov type of girls. not that it's a bad thing to be non-bais yaakov. it's just different.
when i looked for a sem, i looked at the girls and the teachers, as those will have the biggest influence on your year, whether you think so or not. so even though YOU might not be the kind to have a boyfriend, it may seem less of a big deal to you if many around you DO have BFs. i'm not saying that you'll eventually have a BF, but you ARE influenced by your surroundings, and it may not seem as bad as it used to seem.
also, some teachers are mizrachi, and some mizrachi ideaologies are a little off.
another point (and this was heard personally from a rav who teaches there) is that they offer gemara classes. though it is optional, the fact that they offer it in a girls' school shows a bit of a skewed hashkafah. (this rav was very disturbed when they started offering this class)

k so im not concerned about getting influenced but i heard that u can pick the classes u wanna take so is there still a lot of work if u take mostly easier classes?
see, that's an even bigger problem. if you're not so concerned about the influence someplace is gonna have on you, (and believe me, EVERYTHING ALWAYS has an influence) then you're setting yourelf up for even more problems. you see, when something is of the wrong hashkafah, especially if they've got most of it right, it's much harder to see the negative and not be influenced. i'd be much more cautious if i were you.
but yeah, if you choose the easier classes, it breaks the workload. that's not to say you won't have anything. but, depending on the classes you choose, that's your workload. of course, there is a minimum, and it also depends on how studious you are, but that's anywhere.
oh, there's also a chavrutah program which is pretty good.
ok, whoever mentoes:) is, you should really think about what you're writing before you do it. i totally disagree with you and think that you're shedding a terrible light on an amazing school.
actually, i'm not trying to shed any terrible light. i'm being truthful and realistic.
i had a whole loooooong conversation with this rav that teaches there. (he's been there for ages, and he's a teacher everyone loves) i was of your opinion, but by the time i was through with him, well, what can i say? he convinced me.
michlala offers an academic program that is challenging and varied. it has beautiful dormitories and many wonderful, good, bright torah true girls attend and have attended. that still does not negate anything i've written as of yet.
ok i just finished my personal statement.... we're sending in applications this week!!!!!

i didn't say that all teachers are mizrachi. i said that there are some. in the bais yaakov sems, there aren't any.
interview is on wednesday..... sooo nervous!!!!!
