this school attracts more of a yeshivish chinuch type of girls..its is located in har nof...it has a fair amount of work..and also an "oldie" school so it has its type for a while...if you are this type then this school is for you..
Like is said its a more of a yeshivish..familys into chinuch type of girls...if you are that type then go..but if you are not then i dont think you will mesh well w/ these type of girls
you need to have good grades to get in, and you need to be the typical by girl. that means that you are frumm bubbily dress tzniously act b'tsnius... aidel maidel mamish amazing.... you need to be the type who is ganna wanna marry a brisker bachur. its intense yeshivishness. your family doesnt need to be yeshivish- you need to be yeshivish. never ever in seminary is it besed on your family. its based on the individual girl! anyhu- the girls are all so riendly and nice and geshmak! they were all go in high school. - they are also a close knit school- you become friends with everyone- though you need marks to get in, once your there its not so much academic. thats all i know- oh ya and the halacha rabbi is great- we also had him and he teaches amazingly!
some people say its not so hard, like not as intense as bnos chava, but some say its as hard as bjj. and ive also heard lots of different things about the types of girls that go there. you don't need major marks most girls are well rounded bais yaakov type girls- all could have been g.o. in thier bais yaakov schools...There is a lot of work but you can do it in a chilled way- it's an easygoing environment so although you learn a lot and have reports, you can get away with a lot and split tons of the ..but its def. a "partying" seminary in a sense..the girls are up and out all night it's an amazing place. The teachers are very warm and caring, and the work is manageable. Not like BJJ, and you can get away with not doing some of it, but it's in your best interests to do it. The girls are well-rounded BY girls a-m-a-z-i-n-g!! super special sem!! Mostly hashkafa-based. For example, u only covered 4 or 5 topics in chumash the whole year because all u discussed was the hashkafa of it (pretty much). In navi also, 2 separate tests, one for the actual text and one for the classes. There are one or two classes that focus on the text, but even those were mainly hashkafa.t's an excellent place, if you're thinking of going there. Text-based learning is pretty much just reading meforshim and answering questions. Time-consuming, but not too difficult. But there is also a focus on understanding chumash/rashi from the text. As for the girls, that depends on the year.BYA advertises that they only accept girls who have an average of 85 or above, but I happen to know a few girls there who had averages less than that. So - it's worth a try! the important marks are Chumash, Dinim, Navi, Safa, and all other hebrew subjects, respectively. for you English subjects, they basically just look at your average. If you're a good girl Then obviously your marks will matter less, but it doesn't hurt to apply dont worry--you will be fine..mrs zupnik is the principal and she gives the interviews...she knows that the girls are nervous....you do have to read a longish meforash...but dont get too worried about chapping what every word means..just know the main points...and also dont try to prepare the most "seminary..oh i wanna grow blah blah" answers for her..just be yourself
i'm so freaked out for the interview!!!! can s/o give me a detailed description on how the interview is with mrs. zupnick??? what type of things is she known to ask......
it was a very funny interview. she asked me who my role model is. and y. what i like to do for fun, what my siblings do and where they live. y i want to go to bya. where my sister went to sem. what shul my dad davins in. it was over in two minuites and she didnt even ask me to read anything which may be because i was in bya high school and they have an in on if i no how to read a rashi or not.
they ask simple questions like what you do with your free time(if u answer read they might ask if you read english books)and who ur friends are and what you do on shabbos and sunday and such.
what is the interview like? it's getting closer and i really want to make a good impression. will they not except me if i don't know how to read rashi?
