i know!!! it is rly overwhelming!! and thats all e/o talks about!! soo stressful!!
i dont think we're going just because everyone else is. i think seminary is a brilliant idea and i really want to go-even if most people didn't. ithink it will be worth all the stress
It is a great idea..even if one does it just cuz everoyne does but no1 comes back from sem. w/ regret of doing it..i reccomand whoever can go should go!It is a awesome experiance and one aweseome year you will never be able to have in your entire life! GO FOR IT ALL!
See- It's really hard to pin point it all. What I said previously, and what everyone else is saying is still true, even if you think it is "sterotyped". Only the girls who can can understand what I am saying, because you have to be there for the year to feel and understand it all. It is a year away from home. It is a year all about Y-O-U - you have no one to report to (besides princepal) but on your time off and days off and vacation it is up to you to decide what to do how to do it, and who to spend it with. Your parent's are not on top you- you are not reporting to them every minute of what you are doing . They may forget at times when it is 1 am vacation time for you it is evening by them that you are out and about. In one aspect it is a year of INDEPENDANCE, you really learn to take care of yourself, with shabbos plans or day to day plans. Another reason is, that it is a year that no one will EVER be able to have again, it is basically a once in a life time opportunity- you will never be able to have it again in Eretz Yisrael with girls your age in a seminary of your choice. It is just simply never the same . Thirdly, having the ablitiy to spend a year in OUR LAND is really unphathomable, think about it- seminary wasn't always around and everyone did not get the chance like we do so easy now a days. Being able to tour our country and see where everything in tanach took place and will continue to. Lastly, even though you still have "time" yet "time flies" this will be your last chance as "care-free" girl once you do come back from seminary it really is off to the real world. These raesons may sound"shallow and pathetic" but think about it. it is not at all. Besides the beautifulness of ruchness, and sensitivitys that you recive and come home with is beyond explaination. to sit here and express thoes feelings is not possible only once a person has been threw that postion can understand. in a nut shell basically, i am saying is..if your parents are giving you the opportunity to go and sepnd a year in the Most Makom Kadosh and daven at the kotel and your free will . You are very lucky and should take it and go with your best wanting to be able to get out everything possible form your seminary year, wheather it is from textual learning or hashkafa or trips or just learnign from youur souroudings(apt. mates roomeates.etc).
does it make sense that im mhoping taht evrything that i am currently confused about which direction i should go in for example frumkiet will be resolved in sem? and that over the yr i will hv matured enough to know these answers?
i went to seminary and had an amazing experience, however for those who are expecting to go , and suddenly have this sporatic growth session... it doesn't happen like that. you have to take in all that you hear and then grpw as you feel ready. you have to be the one making the decision to go to the next level.\, no one can be making that decision for you (which a lot of girls end up doing).
